After being bombed, it was further destroyed by the mass exhumation.

This was where Bishan New Town sprang up, leading its way to the current one.

Journey of uncovering the mound’s potentials

comeraki 04.png

Site "dead" mounds

Isolated people during pandemic with self-comfort and suspicion over others

Subtracted mounds

Letting go of ourselves

Uncovered layers

Discovering each other’s

potentials

New "living" spaces

Forming a collaborative and contributive community

New “living” spaces; collaborative skate / workshop / dining area

The ongoing pandemic has drive people to look at everything and everyone outside as suspicious enemies. Consequently, people stay home, and multifunctionality within an interior space has become the new normal, while public spaces are left almost untouched.

As reflected on the selected site,

are we letting these mounds and even ourselves..

to go back and become the burial ground of potentials?

The design breathes a new life into these mounds by uncovering layers of it. It resonates with us from being isolated beings during the pandemic to welcome the “next normal” to reconnect and contribute to the community by first letting go a part of ourselves (our suspicion, individualistic comfort) and allow a collaborative space to carry out each other’s potentials.
